It’s important to preface this and say i am not a professional- just someone who knows how to use a sewing machine and has a few brain cells!

Ps If you do not own a sewing machine, hope is not lost! You can buy self adhesive hemming tape and iron the fabric over it to create smart edges.

Step 1: Measure

  • Mark out the size on the fabric. I find it easiest to do this on the floor- ideally on a rug as you can use the straight edge to guide you.

  • I prefer a slightly gathered look so i do 1.5x the window size. Eg if your window is 100cm wide i would need 150cm of fabric.

  • In addition to this, i add 6cm to the width and height to allow for fabric you lose hemming/folding over the edges.
